In though I was a bad student in high school, I chose front and center when I could because it kept me from falling asleep (no detention) and it also made it so I could see the blackboard. I didn't get glasses for being near-sighted until I was sixteen.
In college, being up front helped me pay attention and earn those beloved A's. But always a little to the side of the door, so I head off the herd of students could get out fast. That's cigarette time those people were wasting while being bottlenecked at the door.
