Sigh. . I think the difference for me is glory of the flight weighted against the consequences of the flight. It would be fun to jump off a bridge for about 7 seconds, but in the 8th second it is soooo not fun any more. . . you tend to go splat. We aren't talking risk, here, we are talking about doing something for the flight when you KNOW you are going to be hurt in the outcome.
Risk would be becoming an astronaut. . .and having the ship blow up. . .you don't KNOW it's going to happen, I hope. . . but the flight. . ..is absolutely worth the risk of the possibility of living so few do in a life time. . . with the greater possibility of coming back alive to tell about it.
I'm a risk taker, don't get me wrong. . . I'm just not a glutton for punishment.
