Preamble: Lets say you've become independently wealthy, but you have to give a quarter of it away to charity. You decide to set up a charity of your own, for a cause you believe in. So the question is:

What do you name your charity?

I'd distribute it as evenly as possible between a whole bunch of already existing charities.

I think there's already an oversaturation of charities working at cross-purposes, I wouldn't want to add to that. :P

helping hand...

...it would be a charity to help everyone for any reason, all someone would have to do is write a request to the charity and it would be read over by a panel and then decided on whether we could or could not help as well as how we could hep whether it was money, or providing free services or education or what not.

Childs Play. I would set up an charity to let people live out a fun "goal/ dream/ vacation/ whatever" for average people who struggle day to day to put dinner on the table, juggle hectic schedules, and no matter how hard they try while they might have enough money to live they never have the extra to play. We all need to play now and again to replenish our souls. If it ment buying someone a camera because they always wanted to take pictures, or planning a big birthday party for someone special that you always thought had it comming to them but noone could afford to do it. I would start a charity for emotional uplifting and warm fuzzy feelings inside that you got to do something you never ever would have been able to do otherwise.

The Young Snipers Adjudication and Early Pornography Collection Concern, a.k.a. "HAPPY STREET!".

It's an out-reach program designed to teach kids to properly aim their weapons at their intended targets in order to reduce collateral material damage and unnecessary human loss in the inner cities. It also teaches them how to keep their nascent porn sequestered from the prying eyes of parents and school teachers.

i fully support this charity; it should also focus on teaching proper bitchslap techniques that prevent hand injury and facial bruising to the merchandise.

"Animals instead of People"

But this comes after a day of Friday traffic, so I might have a less caustic response in the morning.

I wouldn't put all the money into it of course, but I would like to establish a resource center for our local homeschool network -- a room for meetings and classes, a few sample curriculums so if anyone wants to know "Just what IS in a 'standard' 5th grade science textbook, anyway?" they can find out, Rosetta Stone language software (which is pretty pricey stuff, IMO) and some kick-ass anatomy software, ... stuff like that. Plus a yard or some space for Bryan to teach exercise classes. :)

To be fair, I would probably just give the money to a charity organization that I already support. It's so hard to set up your own charity that it's not worth the effort. Zombie Squad would love to officially become a charitable organisation but even getting their 5013(C) to make them a non profit organisation is a lot of hard work and a lot of paperwork.

My boyfriend is a part of the online forums. Just recently he went to America for the big Zombie con gathering. Their goal for the week is to get insanely drunk and watch zombie movies ;) Really though, they have survival seminars, disaster preparation discussions and first aid talks. He really enjoyed himself.
