I certainly would like to be told the truth whenever witholding it would hurt me in some way. But, at the same time, there's a point when people can go a bit...crazy with the honesty.

yeah, but some people can revel in it- some people use the excuse of honesty for being downright insulting.

sadly, in the past few years, i have been unfortunate enough to meet a LOT of them.
So, to conclude- CONSTRUCTIVE honesty is great.
